The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). PhD training will be carried out in English at your chosen lab at A*STAR Research Institutes, NUS or NTU. Students will be supervised by distinguished and world-renowned researchers in these labs. Upon successful completion, students will be conferred a PhD degree by either NUS or NTU.

  • PhD student position in Medical Science – Clinical Pharmacology at University of Uppsala

    Inside solid tumors the individual cells often grow in close vicinity to each other and areas with mild to severe oxygen deficit, hypoxia, is formed within the tumor. The hypoxic tumor cells are likely to be less sensitive against traditional treatment options, e.g. several studies have demonstrated hypoxia-related resistance against radiotherapy. Most probably this is also true for several chemotherapeutic treatments.

    Aim: To investigate the activity of different anticancer drugs on:

    1. tumor cells cultivated in spheroids, i.e. small micro-tumors (0.1-1 mm) with a hypoxic core
    2. tumor cells cultivated under hypoxic conditions in comparison to normoxic conditions,

    with special attention to drugs with potentially increased hypoxic activity and their mechanisms.

  • Position as PhD student in developmental psychology. The project that is the financial basis for the position concerns the relation between aggression and cognitive control functions (so called executive functions) in children, and how these factors longitudinally are related to peer relations.

    Qualifications: The applicant must have a basic university degree with psychology as a major subject.

    Specific Qualifications: Experience of performing testing and working with children, as well as shown administrative independence are considered as additional qualifications. Good knowledge in Swedish and English is required.
