Every year UNU-IAS (United Nations University – Institute of Advanced Studies) offers PhD and Postdoctoral fellowships to provide young scholars and policy-makers, especially from the developing world, with a multi-disciplinarily context within which to pursue advanced research and training that is of professional interest to the successful applicant and of direct relevance to the research agenda of their selected UNU-IAS or UNU-ISP programme.

The United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) is now open. About 8-10 fellowships will be awarded in total in 2009 for three types of fellowships:

• UNU-IAS PhD Fellowships
• UNU-IAS Postdoctoral Fellowships
• JSPS-UNU Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Biotechnology Centre is setting up a Bioinformatics Service Unit. We are now offering postdoc job positions for 3 Postdoctoral Fellows who will conduct research and development in collaboration with other scientists at the Biotechnology Center in Germany. The life-sciences campus in Dresden offers a very competitive research setting including a 3,000 node supercomputer at the university as well as strong local partners applying latest experimental technologies. The interdisciplinary Biotechnology Center provides a stimulating, international environment for leading research. The computing hardware at the Institute includes cutting edge database servers and a cluster for parallel computation.
