International prize studentships for PhD research 2010
Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance

The Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance (http://www.sicsa.ac.uk) is a collaboration of leading Scottish Universities whose aim is to work together to consolidate and extend Scotland’s position as an international research leader in computer science and informatics. As part of this, the Scottish Graduate Academy in Informatics and Computer Science offers up to 20 international prize studentships per year to outstanding candidates who wish to study for a PhD in Scotland.

These studentships are open to excellent students from any country. There are no residency or citizenship requirements. We will consider applicants in any area of computer science and informatics but may give preference to students who are working in SICSA theme areas (http://www.sicsa.ac.uk/themes)

In line with UNIDROIT’s legal co-operation activities, a Scholarships Programme has been developed for top-level lawyers, with a special attention given to applicants from developing countries or countries in economic transition. Since 1993, when the Programme was first launched, it has hosted roughly 200 researchers from some 50 countries.

The Programme is funded partly from the general budget of UNIDROIT and by donors.

The graduate school provides various kinds of scholarships to graduate students. In particular, international students may receive scholarship through a special program, the Jungseok International Fellowship. Qualified students are allowed to receive scholarship covering either full or half of the tuition. In addition to this special scholarship, international students can also receive additional support through various kinds of assistantships.

Hannover Medical School offers an international english PhD program in Molecular Medicine (former MD/PhD program) in cooperation with the Leibniz University of Hannover, the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, and the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI), Braunschweig. The program was funded within an international PhD-project (IPP) by the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst und Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DAAD/DFG) from 2002 to 2006, and is now supported through funds of the German Excellence Initiative (BMBF). The program was accreditated as the first German PhD program according to European standards (ECTS) in December 2003.
