Every year UNU-IAS and UNU-ISP offer PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships to provide young scholars and policy-makers, especially from the developing world, with a multi-disciplinarily context within which to pursue advanced research and training that is of professional interest to the successful applicant and of direct relevance to the research agenda of their selected UNU-IAS or UNU-ISP programme. OSI Chevening MSc in Economics Scholarship
The Open Society Foundation, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Staffordshire University Business School jointly invite applications from university graduates with outstanding academic qualifications for ten scholarships on the MSc in Economics for Business Analysis programme at Staffordshire University. The aim of this joint scholarship scheme is to assist ‘capacity building’ in the region by speeding up the training of professional economists needed in the process of transition to a democratic market economy. The scheme will enable young university graduates to pursue postgraduate studies in economics in the United Kingdom with a view to returning to and working in the region after completing the programme.

The Lero Graduate School in Software Engineering (LGSSE), the main education initiative of Lero – the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre, offers a four-year PhD program provided jointly by the four leading Irish Universities involved in Lero (Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and University of Limerick). The LGSSE program cycle begins in September 2010. The first year includes taught modules in research theory and practice, as well as technical software engineering modules. Also during the first year the candidate will prepare a research proposal that will be the basis for a three-year individual research project. In this way LGSSE seeks to combine the best features of the European and US models of PhD education.

Scholarship Awards within the Foreign Development Assistance Programme
The Government of the Czech Republic offers a number of scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Assistance Programme in support of the study of foreign nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.
