The Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology is one of the major departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. The department has 120 employees and approximately 1500 students. The main research disciplines are Geomorphology, Glaciology, Climatology, Quaternary Geology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing, Geographical Data Processing, Ecological Geography and Tropical Geography. Teaching is oriented towards geography, earth sciences, geosciences and environmental protection.

The Biotechnology Centre is setting up a Bioinformatics Service Unit. We are now offering postdoc job positions for 3 Postdoctoral Fellows who will conduct research and development in collaboration with other scientists at the Biotechnology Center in Germany. The life-sciences campus in Dresden offers a very competitive research setting including a 3,000 node supercomputer at the university as well as strong local partners applying latest experimental technologies. The interdisciplinary Biotechnology Center provides a stimulating, international environment for leading research. The computing hardware at the Institute includes cutting edge database servers and a cluster for parallel computation. The positions are initially offered for two years and further extension will be possible. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (WissZeitVG) .

The Cross Talk project is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network, that brings together 8 academic participants, 2 industrial partners and 3 associated partners. Their association promotes complementarities of expertise in several scientific research fields, supporting an early-stage training program.

Funded by the government, Academia Sinica (http://www.sinica.edu.tw/main_e.shtml) is the most prominent research institution in Taiwan. In 2002, in collaboration with a consortium of prominent local research universities, Academia Sinica established the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) that offers the following 9 highly specialized interdisciplinary PhD programs and a generous funding, a grant of NT$32,000 (US$1050) per month, to each student for up to 3 years.
