Description
The Biogeographical Modelling group is looking for a highly motivated PhD student to take part in a research project on modelling studies for wildlife management in protected areas, funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU.

One full-time PhD position is available at Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Vilnius University (Lithuania) in the framework of Marie Curie Network SAGA (ShApes, Geometry, and Algebra).
Topic: Mathematics of surfaces with applications to geometric modeling.

The Biotechnology Centre is setting up a Bioinformatics Service Unit. We are now offering postdoc job positions for 3 Postdoctoral Fellows who will conduct research and development in collaboration with other scientists at the Biotechnology Center in Germany. The life-sciences campus in Dresden offers a very competitive research setting including a 3,000 node supercomputer at the university as well as strong local partners applying latest experimental technologies. The interdisciplinary Biotechnology Center provides a stimulating, international environment for leading research. The computing hardware at the Institute includes cutting edge database servers and a cluster for parallel computation. The positions are initially offered for two years and further extension will be possible. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (WissZeitVG) .

The Information Systems Research Group is offering a fully funded D.Phil position in Oxford University’s Computing Laboratory. This position is associated with the EPSRC project “Enforcement of Constraints on XML Streams”, under the supervision of Professor Michael Benedikt, which will deal with issues in XML integrity-constraints and stream processing.
The studentship is fully funded (at EU fees level – overseas candidates will need supplementary funding) for 3 ½ years from 1st January, 2009. Students applying for admittance with a start date of 1st October, 2009 will receive a guarantee of 3 years funding. It includes a stipend of at least £12,940 per year as well as provision for travel to conferences.
