All about PhD Position, PhD Studentship, and PhD Scholarship

Following the Faculty’s strong performance in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, we are offering eight fully-funded studentships for Postgraduate Research, supported by the Vice Chancellor’s Strategic Research Development Fund. Four of these are available to study in the School of the Built and Natural Environment and four in the Bristol Institute of Technology.
The eight studentships will be linked to research areas which have demonstrated excellence and which are of future strategic importance and you will work with an established group of active researchers and research students, with a strong research record. Applications are invited which focus on one of the following research areas:

If you are interested in submitting an application in one of these areas, get in touch with the named contact who will be able to advise you and put you in touch with a potential Director of Studies.
All eight PGR Projects are expected to:
These objectives will be included in the criteria for allocating studentships. They should be discussed with your potential Director of Studies and should be addressed in your application.
Applications will be judged on individual merit and inclusion of a topic area in the list above does not indicate that a studentship will necessarily be allocated to this topic.

I am Vu Phuong Nam from Vietnam. I had my B,Sc in Hydrology and Environment from a Water Resources University of Vietnam. I have worked at Institute of Water Resources Planning for 7 years. Presently, I am on my master programme in Environmental and Land Engineering in Politecnico di Milano in Italy for 2009-2010 period. I am interested in the filed of development of an integrated basin wide water allocation framework for developing a strategy to mitigate water shortage induced conflicts among provinces and across different water use sectors in a large river basin. I will be appreciate if anyone gives me an opportunity to explore a new door in research sectors by using my knowledge and experience.

I have the great honour and pleasure to write to you for the first time. Please let me introduce myself. I am Guesh Zeru from Ethiopia. I am 32 years old. I had a B.Sc degree in applied geology from Mekelle University (Ethiopia). I am a graduate of Master degree in hydrogeology from Mekelle University (Ethiopia) in 2007 on the Title of Groundwater modeling (both transient and steady groundwater flow, vertically 20layer model ) to evaluate the potential of the basin and to set the optimum abstraction rate from the well field, and I gate CGPA 3.84. Till 11/09/2009 I was working in Tigray water resource, mines and Energy Bureau, department of water resource study, design & supervision. By now I am working In DEBREMARKOS UNIVERSITY (ETHIOPIA) as full time lecturer and I give the course of hydrology, geology. Now I am looking for a PhD degree and I am highly interested /eager to do my PhD on the field hydrology/hydrogeology fields surface/groundwater MODELING, geohydrological modeling, surface water & groundwater interaction, Enviromental protection and other related fields which is very important spices and applicable world wide even in Ethiopia.
